WILLOW INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
Willow Park has pupils from dozens of countries from around the world. We are privileged to have international families from as far away as China, Canada, Australia, and Argentina to South Africa, Pakistan, Brazil, and France.
It is enriching to have people from different cultures and traditions in our community.
But it is very challenging to relocate to a new country on a temporary or a permanent basis.
The Willow International Network (WIN) was developed to provide a support system for international families to adjust to their new life. Adjust and thrive! Parents can join weekly coffee mornings where tips and recommendations are shared.
WIN not only supports parents but it is involved in raising awareness among the boys of world cultures.
WIN has a monthly column in the school newsletter where a boy from an international background introduces the school to his country of origin and traditions.
International Day is one of the most popular annual events of the school year. Organised by WIN, it involves international parents coming to the school to raise awareness of diversity in a fun and innovative way – often involving delicious treats!
NEW FAMILIES - WELCOME BOOKLET
The Willow International Network was created with the main goal of providing a support system for Willow’s international families.
In order to help in the process of settling in, we have created a welcome document for families who have recently joined Willow Park. New members of our community might find its contents useful having just relocated (from abroad or a different place in Ireland)
Its contents have been put together thanks to the contributions of the Willow community.
LIBRARY - INTERNATIONAL CORNER
in 2019 WIN has inaugurated our very own "International books" corner in the library. In this corner boys can find titles in English, or in their original language which could be Spanish, Mandarin, Korean and many more.
Our coffee mornings take place every first Wednesday after drop off, during that time we enjoy sharing tips, recommendations, plan activities and organising International day.
We regularly organise activities with the idea of integrating all families, we have done activities with the boys, trips to the market and we have also recently decided to start sharing our secret home recipes: we've learned how to make Italian pizza, fresh pasta; lemon biscotti and Spanish churros with chocolate.
Once a year the Willow International Network comes together to plan a whole day dedicated to celebrating and learning from Willow boys' diverse cultural background.
Boys, parents and teachers are invited to participate in this event that holds a very special place for the International Community
